Publication presents numbers and analyzes relating to the production of key sectors of agribusiness in Goiás

Photo: Disclosure The State Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa) launched today, during Tecnoshow Comigo, the April edition of Agro em dados, a monthly newsletter that brings together indicators from the main research institutes and databases of Brazilian agribusiness, with the focus on the State of Goiás. This month, the highlight of the publication was sorghum, a cereal intended mainly for animal feed. In Goiás, according to estimates by the National Supply Company (Conab), the area planted with sorghum in the 2023/24 harvest should reach 428,2 thousand hectares, an increase of 11,3% compared to the previous one. In the last 10 harvests, there was an increase of 107% in the planted area and 100% in the volume of cereal production in the state. As explained by the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Seapa), Pedro Leonardo Rezende, sorghum cultivation has been driven by the fact that it presents a lower production cost in relation to corn, in addition to representing a good option for the production of grains in conditions of low water availability. “Its versatility and tolerance to water stress make it a viable option for the second harvest, especially in succession to soybeans”, he adds. In the current harvest, the estimate is that 1,4 million tons of sorghum will be produced in Goiás, a number that represents 30,4% of Brazilian production and places the state in 1st place in the national ranking, both in production and exports. In the state context, in turn, the municipality of Rio Verde stands out as the main producer of the grain. In addition to sorghum, the newsletter also contains figures and analyzes relating to the production and export of beef, pork and chicken, dairy products, soybeans and corn. “With meticulous dedication, our team carries out an in-depth analysis of key sectors, providing valuable insights into trends, challenges and opportunities”, comments the head of Seapa.
